Sal is a gender fluid character who auditioned to be the queens assassin. Not only is she an assassin but she's also a thief. She has other plans other than being the queens assassin, she wants to find everyone involved in a killing in Nacea. This book was released on August 29th and is now available for purchase. These assassins are super cool with their mask's, it made me want one of my own. I'm really happy with the fact that a lot of YA books are now representing the LGBTQ+ community. I was happy to see that Sal's character was represented in that community without it being hinted in a big way to the reader. As if saying here it is, what you wanted a gender fluid character. The author was able to include all of this is a real subtle way. Making me as a reader very happy.

 I really enjoyed the writing in this book it flowed well. It was not super hard to follow, it was fairly easy to read.The characters were easy to get a long with too and the fact the main character is gender fluid made it more interesting. As I have said before. 

I really can't wait to see what the rest of the series entails. I know I will enjoy it.

I just want to start off by saying; I did not expect to lovethis book as much as I did. My friend Jen from @abookishpeach told me about this book last year, and I never picked it up. I finally did when I joined the blog tour for the second book Reign of Mist and OMG guys! I should have picked it up sooner! Thank you to Helen Scheuerer for including me in her Blog tour.

Our main character Bleak has always been invisible. More likely learned to be invisible, she hides from herself and everyone around her. Bleak lost everything important to her, and now she’s left with her berating thoughts and her addiction to alcohol. After losing everyone and everything she has loved, she has no one to confine her secrets in. Especially the one big secret that can get her caught by the king, or even worse killed. Bleak grew up in a world where people like her feared for their selves. They were hated by everyone and were put to death. They were thrown into this dangerous Mist that has surrounded most of the land. We follow Bleak as she is sentenced to present herself to the king, for being a criminal.

Just to say it again, I loved this book. It differed from so many young adult fantasies. It dealt with alcohol abuse, which you don’t see at all lately. I felt like it was handled well in this particular book, especially knowing why Bleak was so addicted to it. Another reason was there is no actual love interest with the main character. There are some hits for potential lovers, but none that can be actually confirmed. Finally, I love this magical world Helen has created. That fact that there’s a deadly Mist that can kill any living person is pretty crazy. 

I really loved the characters in this book. I loved Bleak because even if she was an alcoholic and hated everything and herself sometimes, she still managed to grow so much. She still cared for everyone around her as well. Even if she did not want to show how much, deep down she empathized with everyone.  We are introduced and also follow a few other characters such as, Swinton and Henri. I love Henri, I think I love her so much more than I love Bleak. She’s that bad ass female characters you wish you were. In the scene when her and the other females from her kindred I felt so excited and giddy. They remind me so much of The Valkyries for some reason. They remind of how badass the Valkeries are and how much they want to protect and care for each other. If you do no know who the Valkyries are, this is for you. 

A valkyrie (pronounced “VAL-ker-ee”; Old Norse valkyrja, plural valkyrjur, “choosers of the fallen”) is a female helping spirit of the god Odin. The modern image of the valkyries as elegant, noble maidens bearing dead heroes to Valhalla is largely accurate for what it is, but a highly selective portrayal that exaggerates their pleasant qualities. To some extent, this tendency toward sanitization is present even in the later Old Norse sources, which focus on their love affairs with human men and their assisting Odin in transporting his favorites among those slain in battle to Valhalla, where they will fight by his side during Ragnarok.

Overall, I loved this book. Helen did such an amazing job at writing out this world. I felt like I was gripped into this world as soon as I started reading. It was fast paced, full of witty banter and also really heart breaking scenes. If you enjoyed Fallen Kingdoms Series or The Remnant Chronicles I feel like you’ll really enjoy this book.

I cannot begin to explain how much I am loving this series. Kendare Blake’s writing amazes me, it flows so well and it captures you the minute you start reading. I love the fact that I’m never skipping over sentences or seem bored while reading over details. I’m always engaged and enjoying what I’m reading. The writing kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. The anticipation of what will happen next had me flipping the page continuously without stopping. 

With the queens I’ll start by saying that Arsinoe, for some reason has always been my favorite. I’m guessing it’s because she’s the least favorable. The one everyone likes least and wishes dead. I grew to loving her character the fact that even if she’s out down throughout the whole story, she’s grown so much. I love how much she cares for her family, and friends. I love that she has never given up even though she was the weakest of the three and the most likely to end up dead.

Mirabella is my second favorite, she also has always cared for her other sister s and never wanted to really harm them. She also cares about the people around her and tries to protect them. She uses her gifts for good and it to take advantage of anyone. 

Katherine on the other hand, has never been my favorite. But she became sort of my favorite bitch queen. Arsinoe is still my favorite even so, but Katherine won m my heart over with her vengeance and will to murder. Even in In Three Dark Crowns I always felt like there was something lacking from her. I felt like I wanted to skip over her narrative all the time. In One Dark Thrown she’s grown into a darker person, seeking only revenge. The reason which is revealed in this book, after her fall in the pit. Even so, I feel like it adds such a good twist to the story. It makes me anticipate the next one even more.

Jules is such a mysterious character full of twist and turns and plot twist. We’ve yet to learn so much more from her family, to uncover all of their hidden secrets. Which I hope will be answered in the next book. She has become as important as the three queens, and the book wouldn’t be where it’s at if she was not in it. 

For the most part, I loved this book as a whole. Everything about to the short fight scenes, to the love scenes and all the bitching from Katherine. I can’t wait to read more on these characters. I can’t wait to read more of Kendare Blake’s writing.

This Young Adult Fantasy book is based around three sisters, who didn’t know each one existed. All three sister’s hold a dark secret they’re afraid to let anyone else know. And when they are called upon to meet the king, they believe that they’re caught and are awaiting execution or something up the latter. But, what they didn’t know is that they’re all the Kings daughters and have a chance to sit on his thrown. They find out that the king is dying, and his successor was murdered. Now it’s up to them to show which one is worthy of the thrown. 

I want to start off by saying this book blew my mind. I did not expect how much I would it. I was hooked from the first 10 pages. The authors writing was so easy to read, in a good way. Everything was fast paced and not info dumpy like a lot of fantasy books. I just couldn’t stop myself from reading. I know I’m going to pick up the next book in the series as soon as it is released. 

The characters were all really likable, and different from each other in so many ways. My favorite I believe was Zoey she didn’t take sh!t from anyone. She was the badass sister who can fight and can choose her own path without anyone guiding her.  

I thought the magic system was awesome in this book. Blood magic is basically used by 80% of the world and only 20% aren’t able to use this magic. They can use this blood magic that’s called tithing to make yourself more agile. For example, speed, strength and invisibility which is pretty amazing! But just like in other magical realms there are parts of this magic system that shouldn’t be used. 

I do wish to have more world building. Getting to know what the wars have been like before what’s happening now in present time. We didn’t get a lot of that, or a lot of the history. But, I hope It’s all in the next book. This is my next highly anticipated book and I really recommend it if you’re into Three Dark Crowns.

In Weregirl we follow a high school Junior named Nessa Kurland who's main goal is to get a scholarship in cross-country to escape her small town. She gets noticed by one of the best runners in her team and was invited to run in the woods at night for practice. To Nessa's luck she runs late and while trying to catch with her teammate she runs into a trapped wolf. While trying to help this wolf Nessa unfortunately get's bitten by a white wolf who happens to encounter her while helping the trapped wolf. She then starts noticing changes in her body, and that she in now running a lot faster than usual. 

Overall, I really loved this book and could not have expected any more from it. I really loved the pace it set for the reader. It wasn't a slow story and I never felt like it dragged on either. The writing was really good and easy to follow. I felt like it flowed really well with the book and didn't falter.

I really enjoyed reading in the perspective of the main character, Nessa. She has us going on adventures and also I saw myself relating to her in some parts of her real life. Except the part in which she becomes wolf, obviously not a spoiler. I really loved the way the first book wrapped up and left you wanting more from it.

      I quickly pick up the second book, Chimera which was just a little slower. I blame it on the fact that I might have been on a bit of a slump. In this book Nessa has to deal with a lot more problems. Which I don't want to spoil for you guys, but you will be on the edge of your seats. Trying to find out what's going to happen next. We're on a different adventure  with Nessa and this time it's a bit more serious. 

This book was also just amazing as the first one. If you love the show Teen Wolf and love werewolf book with teenage main characters than this book is for you. I promise you'll enjoy reading in. Especially because its set at a great pace.

About the Margaret

Margaret writes fantasy for young adult readers. She lives near Cincinnati, Ohio, and when she's not reading or writing she enjoys drawing, watching documentaries, making pudding, gaming, and exploring the outdoors in search of toads and mushrooms.

Q. When and why did you begin writing?

A. I grew up with my nose in a book, so I think I loved stories so much that I just started writing them as soon as I could. I remember being so frustrated, so crushingly disappointed by the stories I wrote when I was younger because they weren’t any good compared to the books I was reading. I couldn’t figure out how to put a plot together or come up with original ideas. I always dreamed of being an author, but getting published seemed impossible.

I can’t remember any period in my life during which I didn’t write, so the “why” is elusive to me—writing has always been my favorite hobby. However, I never took it seriously until a year or two after I graduated from college, when I decided that I wanted to write a book with the goal of publication. Getting published still seemed impossible, but I had to try!

Q. When did you consider yourself a writer?

A. That’s a good question. I guess I’ve always considered myself a writer, just by virtue of the fact that I’ve always done a lot of writing. But it’s not something I necessarily told people about or took pride in until I got a publishing deal, at which point I could finally tell myself and others that I was a professional writer! Incredibly, that fact is still sinking in.

Q. What inspired you to write An Enchantment of Ravens?

A. I love folklore, and I love stories about fairies/fair folk that explore the more traditional aspects of their mythology and present them to some extent as sinister, inhuman beings. I really wanted to write a book that incorporated that type of mythology, and which also felt like a Robin McKinley-esque fairy tale featuring a capable female protagonist. My background as a portrait artist played a role, too!

4. Who is your favorite Author and what really strikes you about their work? 

I have so many favorite authors, but if I have to choose one I’ll go with Diana Wynne Jones. I love how character-driven her work is, and how she has such a deep, sensitive, warm insight into the human mind. Oftentimes while reading her books, I have a sense that I’m gazing into the souls of real people whose flaws only make me love them more. Her talent for characterization is just out of this world.

Q. With your background as an artist, did that propel you to create Isobel's character?

A. Absolutely! I chose portrait art for her Craft because I knew it was something I could write about authentically and from the heart. I used dry media for my portraits, but fortunately my mom is an oil painter, so that helped fill in the gaps in my experience.

So many emotions flowing through me. This book took my every thought as soon as I picked it up. I did not want to put it down. Eighth because my everything, he is such an amazing character. The way he thinks, everything he goes through. It tore me to pieces. I loved Raven too even though sometimes I wanted to tear he to pieces because of the way she treated Eighth. But I'm so happy with how their relationship turned out. I need the next book asap and I don't want to wait at all.

This alien invasion fascinates me, I kind of thought the plot was going there but sometimes it threw me off. But I'm really glad I guessed right because it's what I would have wanted. I love this story and everything about it. The way G.S Prendergast writes is amazing too her words flow beautifully.

I can't rave enough about how amazing this book is and when you guys find out the the title of this book means I hope it kills you like the way it killed me. Which is why I repeat it so often I'm so in love with the meaning of her book title.

I want to start off by saying that this book is completely different from what I have been reading the past few months. Anya is trying to fight for her favorite bookshop and for who she is. I really love that the main character loves books and loves working at a bookshop. I really love how spunky Anya is and how totally badass she is. She doesn't ever care who's talking down at her, she stands up for her own fights. 

The other characters in the books are really good too but we don't get much of them or really get to know them much. For that I took a star. I wish to know a lot of more and hear a lot more from the King, the Prince also from Steph. It went really slow, everything adding up to the big event, but I'm guessing it's because this is just hyping up the sequel and everything is going to go down in the sequel. On the other hand this book is pretty amazing and I really do recommend. It also has such amazing artwork.

I went into this book just knowing that it was going to be a creepy paranormal read and that I would probably fall in love with Noah Shaw. Which I did, with every little part of him. I seriously love just how his and Mara's name sound. They are really lovely picks for these characters.

First off, I want to start of with the writing in this book. It was super lovely, and I found myself pages in without noticing how far I was into this book. It was easy to follow along and easy to fall right into every word. I loved Michelle's writing and I'm so eager to keep on her reading her work. 

I really enjoyed reading in the perspective of Mara Dyer. I thought she was an amazing character who wasn't keeping it all together, but it made me want to help pick her up. I loved her witty come backs and the fact that she loved Death Cab for cutie made me love her even more. They were once my favorite band and now I want to get back into them since reading this book. Whislt reading this book I kept catching myself laughing giddily at her comments and interactions with Noah. Talking about Noah, ugh how can a character just be so amazing. I loved his character from the moment he was introduced into the book. I loved how he was always there for Mara no matter what. The fact that he got hell from everyone and still maintained a whole to who he was made me just love him even more. 

Overall, I thought this book was amazing and I really enjoyed the creepy aspect of this book. The plot twist in the end really caught me by surprise and I really can't wait to read the next book!
